Personalise your welcome message
Use template tags to personalise your chatbot’s welcome message with visitor information
If you’d like to personalise your chatbot’s welcome message with information from your visitor like name, surname or any other custom information you’ve collected using the lead capture form, you can easily do this using template tags in the welcome message.
How to add template tags

Go to Appearance settings
Head over to Appearance → Welcome Message(s) in your chatbot settings.

Add template tags
Update your welcome message to include template tags where you’d like to insert visitor information.
Template tag format
Template tags use the following format:
- field_name is the name of the field from your lead capture form
- fallback is the text to display if the visitor’s information is not known
Example
This would display:
- Hello John! How can I help you today? if the visitor’s name is known
- Hello there! How can I help you today? if the visitor’s name is not known
Template tags work with any field you’ve added to your lead capture form, not just first_name.
